We offer a foundational training program focusing on central and essential themes to help initiate the understanding of European issues. This course aims to provide you with key insights into crucial topics, setting the stage for a comprehensive exploration of European dynamics.

Master Class n°1 : How Did We Get Here?

• History of the European Union

• The Franco-German relationship, history, and perspectives

• Option: subject to compliance with health conditions, Trait d'Union may organize this module within the premises of the Maison de Jean Monet (78), currently owned by the European Parliament. Association and Maison Jean Monet – Memory and Heritage of one of the founding fathers of Europe (jean-monnet.fr)

The class would be divided into two subgroups. The history of the EU would be discussed during the visit to the house with the historian of the European Parliament, while the part focusing on the Franco-German relationship would be addressed in the amphitheater of the Museum.

Master Class n°2: Brussels and Strasbourg, How Does It Work?

• Institutions of the European Union

• The role of lobbyists

• Option: subject to health conditions, these issues could be addressed during a trip to Brussels organized in collaboration with the Representation in France of the European Parliament and the Representation in France of the European Commission.

Master Class n°3: The Key Issues of the 2024 European Elections

French voters will return to the polls on Sunday, June 9, 2024, to elect their representatives to the European Parliament: Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). These European elections constitute a significant milestone, as they will be the only national election before the 2027 presidential election.

This master class aims to provide students with all the essential insights into this event. Students will acquire the necessary knowledge to better understand this deadline and its implications for French and European politics.
